I am just back from a weekend seminar with Tony Robbins in the Excel Centre in London. 8,000 (yes eight thousand) people attended this 4 day event which was an amazing experience and I learned a phenomenal amount.
One of the concepts he spoke about during the weekend was something I reference quiet a bit with my Business Coaching clients and is something I myself am committed to improving on into the future. This concept focuses on  the importance of who you interact with, who your peers are and who you decide to role model.

Ireland is a land of talkers and it is true that for most businesses, the best way to grow is through word of mouth and referrals. This is all well and good but in order to kick start this process a business owner needs to get out there are meet people and talk about their business as often as they can. This activity gets your name and your business out there and establishes you with some credibility.

This article shares with you some of the tips that I have used when networking and building my business. This is by no means an exhaustive list and I would be very interested to hear from anyone who has discovered an effective tip they use that gets results when networking.

I facilitated a group of business people from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences recently as part of a workshop on “business networking” and I was intrigued to here the many opinions and view points on what defines effective networking. There was however general consensus that there are 2 types of networking, formal and informal. Formal networking is associated with attending an event with the specific intention of meeting other people to develop your business in some way. These events could include Limerick Chamber of Commerce networking events, the AGM of your association, Exhibitions and Conferences.
