The summer is upon us. If you haven't planned a
holiday yet, do it today. Taking regular breaks will
make you more effective in the long run. Think about
how productive you are and how much you manage
to get done on the lead up to a holiday.
Here is a great tip to help you prioritize that I
came across recently - if you knew you were going
to
be absent for a month from tomorrow, what would
you absolutely make sure gets done today? Whatever
that is, do it.
This was a book that was selected for discussion at
the monthly LCEB Business Bookclub. It is written by
Jack Welsh the now retired CEO of GE. What I liked -
his pursuit of "candor" through very facet of the GE
empire, the page where he outlines some key
questions you should consider before taking a new
job and his opinion on how most Managers view work-
life balance for their employees. Other than these 3
sections, I
found the book difficult to read. If you are someone
with ambitions to climb a large corporate ladder, you
will probably relate well to the writer's opinions
however if you are an SME owner manager or work in
a small organisation, there are
plenty of other books out there, that would serve
you better.
